We purchased this because we wanted our TV to be a little lower. Our old stand was twice as high with four separate compartments for VCR, DVD, PS2 and Cable box. Now we just have a cable box and PS2. This stand was a perfect fit over our ventless gas log fireplace with our 40" Samsung LCD TV. It can hold up to 60lbs and our flatscreen is 39lbs. The cable box and PS2 fit perfectly under the stand and we plan to sit an Acer Aspire Revo on top of the stand at the foot of the TV. This is exactly what we needed and blends in well over our fireplace.
